Gomde Lindholme Hall Summer Fete

We were invited to the 3rd annual summer fete at Lindholme Hall, a centre for Tibetan Buddhism, and had a brilliant day; the hall is situated in a 180 acre estate which lies in the heart of the Hatfield Moor National Nature Reserve, and is a perfect environment for those seeking space for reflection, meditation or just peace and quiet.

We had a stall in a lovely setting, next to Graham and his pole-lathe chairs under the old barn and nicely in the shade.

We were overwhelmed by the warm welcome we received and the number of friendly people we met throughout the day, not to mention the sight of a white rabbit cycling around dishing out carrots.

Volunteers were required for the traditional tug-of-war, and once it was established that it didn’t break any rules by having someone as strong as me involved (!) I was persuaded to join in. Incredibly, we got to the final whereupon we were robbed of victory by having to pull uphill. And yes, we did have the rabbit at the front.

The community at Lindholme Hall is dedicated to being environmentally friendly and committed to policies and practices which enhance and protect their surroundings. They are hoping to install a log gasification boiler, and have an impressive store of logs already.

Looking forward to next year’s fete already!
