More Leaves on the Tree

After finishing the bulk of the work on the characters, it was just left for me to carve some leaves in certain areas.

So the leaf underneath Bottom’s head was finished, three more added around Titania’s arm, and some clothing in the form of a shirt and waistcoat was added to Bottom.

I started giving some form to Titania’s flowing dress; really the shape of the trunk and roots dictated the folds, so I can’t claim too much credit for that.

All wrapped up for the night. With our unpredictable weather you can’t take any chances before the carving’s been oiled; it wouldn’t ruin it, but would make any carving the following day a problem. I find wet wood goes a bit fluffy or stringy and is difficult to draw on.

Tomorrow should see the completion of this design, with Titania’s dress to be finished, one or two more leaves, and cleaning up of any edges around the bark.
