Withernsea Carnival

Back to the East Yorkshire coastal town of Withernsea for the Carnival ~ organised year after year by the committee whose fundraising efforts ensure that the 9-day event and all the activities are completely free for the children and their families. They all do a fantastic job and deserve a huge pat on the back for their hard work.

The woodcarving is always popular with the children here, and as usual we had a constant queue of excited participants aged from 2 to 15 ~ many of whom return year after year. There must be something in the Withernsea air, as they all seem to grow at an enormous rate : some who you can remember struggling to climb up on the step to reach the carving are now having to duck under the gazebo to avoid banging their heads!

It’s a reflection of how busy it was by the lack of photos I managed to take. Here’s a few anyway….

The finished carving of a squirrel, completed in only four hours! Well done to everyone who contributed.
