I get asked to carve quite a few signs and plaques, but not many featuring prehistoric monuments ~ that was the case when a customer from Wiltshire contacted me regarding this Christmas present for her friends at Springbottom Farm, close to Stonehenge. The plan was to carve a large oak sign featuring the famous site, surrounded with animals found on the farm ~ these included Sussex cattle, Gloucester Old Spot pigs, Wiltshire Horn sheep and a variety of chickens.
I sourced a suitable piece of oak and got cracking….
